Beautiful St Kilda

Located just a short ride from the city, St Kilda is a bayside destination loved by both tourists and Melburnians.

If you’re in Melbourne for an extended stay or you feel the need to visit the beautiful beaches of Melbourne, we recommend a trip to St Kilda Beach. Located just 9kms from the city center St Kilda is easily accessible by both tram and light rail from the city.

ST KILDA FORESHORE

On a warm day this is the place to be seen : just sunning on the beach or jogging, walking, riding or skating along the foreshore bike path. There are many beautiful restaurants along the waterfront where you can enjoy a long lunch or sundowners at the end of another perfect Melbourne Day.

Don’t miss the historic St Kilda Pier which dates back to 1863 and the historic St Kilda Pier Kiosk which was built in 1904. At the end of the pier on the breakwater you can visit St Kilda’s very own colony of Little Penguins, there are just over 100 Little Penguins and they are the same species of penguin that can be seen nightly down at Phillip Island.

ACLAND STREET

St Kilda has long been one of Melbourne's favourite bayside suburbs and is the perfect place to spend a long afternoon relaxing on the foreshore. Don’t miss nearby Acland and Fitzroy Streets that have cool cafes, restaurants and bars, fashion boutiques and independent music and book stores.

On Acland Street look out for the bustling farmers Market every Saturday morning and indulge by visiting one of the famous continental cakes shops that have been operating for decades and pay homage to the Jewish population that helped to define Acland Street many years ago.

THE ST KILDA ESPLANADE MARKET

Every Sunday between 10.00 - 4.00pm you will find this famous beachfront market that has been in operation since 1970. Grab a bite to eat and enjoy browsing through works by more than 140 artists and craftspeople in Melbourne's open-air gallery by the sea.

Each and every stallholder has a hand in making the products being sold. Take the time to ask how the products are made, and you will soon see the love and passion that is poured into each of our one-of-a-kind pieces of work.

From gifts and souvenirs to furniture and jewellery - you will leave with confidence knowing that you will take home something that is truly one of a kind.

LUNA PARK

No visit to St Kilda is complete without a walk through Mr Moon’s giant mouth into a world of fun, adventure and an old time carnival atmosphere. In operation for over 100 years now, the most famous of the Park’s attractions is its Scenic Railway Roller Coaster. It boasts the title of being the oldest continually operating wooden roller coaster in the world and the only one of its kind with a standing brakeman in control aboard its moving carriages. Who wouldn’t love that job! This world famous roller coaster will not only provide you with heart-stopping dips and turns, but also the most stunning views of Port Phillip Bay St. Kilda has to offer.
