The Queen Victoria Markets

The historic Queen Victoria Market is Victoria's premiere open market. Officially opened in 1878 there have been a range of markets operating from this site in some form or another even prior to this date. The Vic Markets as they are known, is a thriving eclectic mix of : life, food, art and music.
The market is best known for its huge variety of fresh produce. Almost 50% of the market area is dedicated to the sale of fresh produce, including fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, chicken, seafood and huge range of delicatessen products. The remainder of the markets are used for variety and specialty goods, with Sunday being the most popular day for this variety. On Sundays, the hustle and bustle of the of the Weekday Market gives way to a more relaxed and leisurely family day. The Queen Street area is closed and converted into a giant outdoor cafe with kids rides and fun activities.

The markets are closed Monday and Wednesday.

THE NIGHT MARKETS

The Night Markets have become so popular that there is now a Summer and a Winter Night Market. The current Summer Night Market will continue until 11 April 2018 and is held every Wednesday Night. The markets at Night are all about food and a fun time. There can be big crowds so be prepared to queue for food and tables are in high demand (tables of 6 and 10 can now be reserved on their website for $10 per person - well worth considering)

Great fun with lots of music, art and the odd bar thrown in too. A Melbourne Institution now in its 20th year.
