Melbourne Street Art

Just where do you find the best Melbourne Street Art? Simple. Just download our fabulous Pegasus App and take the "Laneways and Arcades" free GPS enabled walk - this will give you a step - by - step (literally) guide through the beautiful grand old arcades and uber hip laneways around the city. Here's a quick guide to the laneways :

Hosier Lane

Opposite Federation Square in between Flinders Lane and Flinders Street, Hosier Lane is arguably the central point of the city's street art scene. Spend some time checking out every little bit of this overflowing art cluster – a creative mark has been left on almost anything with a surface and sometimes it's the smaller, easily-overlooked pieces that really astound.

Centre Place

From Collins Street enter through the timeless Centreway Arcade to find one of the cities most photographed laneways. Take some time to soak in the stencil art and graffiti - stop by Jungle Juice for an international coffee. Soups and crepes will tempt, as will the dumplings at ShanDong MaMa Mini. Browse threads and accessories, local and imported, new and vintage at Fokus and Kinki Gerlinki. Finally, clamber up the narrow stairs to Hell's Kitchen and survey the scene below over an icy cold beer.

ACDC Lane

Originally named Corporation Lane, Melbourne Council voted unanimously to change it to AC/DC Lane as a tribute to these cultural ambassadors for Australia. The location also played a part, with the lane being in the bar and rock district of the city - if you are there in the evening don't miss a chance to get down in the rock and roll Cherry Bar. The laneway can be found off Flinders Lane between Exhibition and Russell Streets.
