St Ali Coffee
The cafe is located in South Melbourne and supplies beans to several establishments in and around Melbourne. St Ali started out as just a cafe serving great coffee but has now grown to a small coffee fueled conglomerate with the mission to educate Melburnians on coffee. They have also invested a great deal of time sourcing their own beans from around the world and roasting them here in Melbourne. Well worth a short tram ride to South Melbourne - perhaps combine it with a trip to the South melbourne Market or a tour of Albert Park lake and the Grand Prix track.
Market Lane Coffee
If you're looking for something a little closer to the hotel for your daily fix you can't go passed Market Lane Coffee. They have two locations at the Queen Victoria Market - one actually inside the market in the Delicatessen area and another just outside in Therry Street . Market Lane Coffee have been in operation since 2009 and they also source their own beans from around the world and roast them in small batches at their Prahran Market Roastery - hence the name! My own personal favourite!
Brother Baba Budan
Don't miss this uber cool tiny cafe in Little Burke Street where you can sip coffee underneath a sea of old chairs suspended from the ceiling. The cafe may be small but they more than make up for it with the dedicated baristas' expertise and a choice of espresso, cold drip or filter coffee, using local beans from Seven Seeds, based in Carlton. One of the best cups of coffee you'll find in Melbourne CBD.
Proud Mary Coffee
This quirky cool spot located just a short tram ride away in Collingwood is renowned throughout Melbourne for brewing some of the city's best coffee (they won the Golden Bean for 2013), and their Proud Mary blends can be found at quality coffee houses near and far. Just as appealing as their flat white is their exceptional and reasonably priced brunch menu. The smashed avo is to die for. Expect crowds on the weekend outside this warehouse space, but hang around as it's worth the wait.
